The Carolina Film & Video Festival is proud to welcome all visiting filmmakers to the Greensboro area for the 2008 Festival, February 20-23, 2008. Please take a look at the following information for help in enjoying your trip the Gate City.

If you’re staying in Greensboro for this year’s festival, please stay at the Hampton Inn, Greensboro-Four Seasons and let them know you are with the Carolina Film & Video Festival.

2008 Categories and Awards:

Documentary Award (independent and student categories)
$250 honoring the best documentary film of any length.

Narrative Award (independent and student categories)
$250 honoring the best narrative film of any length.

Experimental/Animation Award (independent and student categories)
$250 honoring the best experimental or animated film of any length.

Bill Arnold North Carolina Film Award
$250 honoring the best film (of any genre) made by a North Carolinian. This
award was created in honor of Bill Arnold who served as Director of the
NC Film Office for 26 years.

Screenwriting Award
$250 honoring the best screenplay submitted

Alberta Ahler Filmmaker Award
$250 honoring the best film (of any genre) made by a high school student.
This award is donated by the Department of Broadcasting and Cinema's
Dr. John Lee Jellicorse.

UNCG Undergraduate and Graduate Student Awards
$125 honoring the best film made while enrolled as a student at UNCG
(undergraduate and graduate categories).

Kodak Award for Cinematography
$500 worth of Kodak film stock honoring outstanding achievement in
cinematography. This award is donated by Kodak.

CineFilm Award for Direction
$500 worth of film processing services honoring outstanding achievement in
direction. This award is donated by CineFilm. If there less than three entries in any category, the judges have the discretion of not awarding a prize for that category.

CFVF reserves the right to not award a prize in a category with fewer
than two eligible entries or deemed so by the judges.

Directions to UNCG’s Elliott University Center:

Parking: Walker Avenue parking deck located off of Walker Avenue and Stirling Street.

From Charlotte and the South via I-85: Take I-85 North towards Thomasville/Greensboro. Take US-220 North - exit number 122B - toward I-40 West/Coliseum Area. Merge onto Freeman Mill Road. Turn left on Lovett Street. Lovett Street becomes South Aycock Street. Turn right onto Spring Garden Street. After one stoplight, take a left onto Stirling Street. Stirling is a one-way street and does not have a stoplight. On the right will be the EUC and on the left is the Walker Avenue parking Deck.

From Durham and the East via I-85/I-40:
Take Exit 128 - NC 6/East Lee Street Exit. Continue on Lee Street until reaching Tate Street. Take a right onto Tate Street. Turn left onto Spring Garden Street. After two stoplights, take a right onto Stirling Street. Stirling is a one-way street and does not have a stoplight. On the right will be the EUC and on the left is the Walker Avenue parking Deck.

From Winston-Salem and the West via I-40:
Take Exit 121-Holden Rd/Coliseum. Turn left at stoplight (Holden Road) and continue on Holden Road until reaching Spring Garden Street. Turn right onto Spring Garden. After three stoplights, take a left onto Stirling Street. Stirling is a one-way street and does not have a stoplight. On the right will be the EUC and on the left is the Walker Avenue parking Deck.

Take Spring Garden St heading away from campus
Turn right at S Aycock St
Slight left to stay on N Aycock St
Continue on Westover Terrace
Turn right to merge onto W Wendover Ave

From Winston-Salem and the West via I-40:
Take the Wendover Ave E exit 214B
Turn right at W Wendover Ave
Exit at Battleground Ave

From Winston-Salem and the West via I-40:

Take The E Lee St / Nc-6 Exit- Exit 41- Toward Us-29 N / Us-220 N.
Keep Right At The Fork To Go On E Lee St / Nc-6 W.
Turn Slight Right Onto Hackett St.
Turn Left Onto Gorrell St
Merge Onto N Ohenry Blvd / Us-220 N / Us-29 N.
Turn Slight Right Onto E Wendover Ave.
Take The Us-220 N Ramp Toward Roanoke / Battleground Ave.
Stay Straight To Go Onto Battleground Ct / Us-220.
Turn Left Onto Mill St.
Turn Left Onto Us-220 S / Battleground Ave.
